Ally Safe Schools Network

Making our schools safer for all students: gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and straight.

The Ally Safe Schools Network is a program of the School District of Philadelphia in collaboration with Philadelphia Community Health Alternatives.

Allies are school staff members in the Philadelphia public schools. They reach out to students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered (LGBT), students who have LGBT family members or friends, students who are being harassed because they're perceived as LGBT, or any student who wants to talk about sexual orientation or gender identity.

Allies offer a safe place to talk, get information, find resources, and figure out solutions.

Gay-Straight Alliance student groups have formed in ten Philadelphia public high schools so far, founded by Allies and students working together.
